Career Chat: Giving Back to Penn State University Students

I had the honor of returning to my alma mater, Penn State Schuylkill, where I earned my B.S. in Business with a focus in Marketing and Management (Class of 2017), to speak with current students about career development, digital marketing, and the evolving landscape of the automotive industry.

As part of the visit, I shared insights from my role at Mercedes-Benz USA, where I serve as a Lead Digital Strategist and Product Owner for MBUSA.com. We covered digital topics from analytics and SEO to the importance of customer journey design. My aim? To give students a real-world view into what modern digital marketing looks like—and how it’s constantly evolving.

But more than the technical takeaways, what made this experience meaningful was the chance to connect with the next generation of professionals. I spoke about the value of aligning your career with your passions, staying open to non-linear paths, and using your unique skillset as a competitive advantage. Watching their curiosity and ambition reminded me why I love what I do—and reinforced how important it is to stay grounded in purpose while pursuing growth.

Returning to Penn State wasn’t just a full-circle moment—it was a reminder that the most impactful journeys often start with giving back.
